Alwaght- An Israeli military officer was killed in a operation by two Palestinians in the Al-Jumlah checkpoint in Palestine's Jenin Camp.
The two Palestinians were also shot dead in an exchange of fire with the Israeli forces.
The operation was launched in the early hours of Wednesday.
The attackers were identified as Ahmad Ayman and Abdel Rahman Hani, both of Kafr Dhan village west of Jenin.
Some Israeli sources also reported that 6 other Israeli occupation forces were wounded in the clashes. Palestinian side declined to confirm.
Walla news outlet of Israel reported that the Palestinian fighters set an ambush for the Israeli soldiers near Al-Jumlah village and opened fire on them when they entered their fire range.
Israel closed down the crossing point until Friday.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack.
Reports say the Israeli security forces are on high alert now.
Attacks on the Israeli forces have been on the rise in recent months in Jenin refugee camp.
The attacks come as the camp residents are increasingly arming in the face of the Israeli occupation forces.
The attacks prompted Israel army storming Palestinian houses in Jenin as arming of West Bank is setting off the alarm bells to Tel Aviv that for long time feared an armed West Bank.
Since last year, Israeli forces have been lauching regular operations in the camp.
In recent years, there have been calls for arming the West Bank as peace option taken by the Palestinian Authority led by Mahmoud Abbas has proven a failure and only encouraged more Israeli crimes and land seizures.
Younger generations in West Bank call for a Gaza-style resistance to the Israeli aggression.
