Saudi Arabia Launches Fresh Raids on Yemeni Capital

Tuesday 7 December 2021
Saudi Arabia Launches Fresh Raids on Yemeni Capital

Alwaght- Saudi Arabia launched a fresh round of airstrikes against Yemen, after a military spokesman said Yemeni armed forces and their allies had conducted an operation in retaliation for the ongoing Saudi war and crippling siege against their homeland.

The airstrikes struck a car maintenance workshop in the Northern al-Seteen Street of the capital Sana’a on Tuesday morning, damaging residential buildings in the area, Yemen’s Arabic-language al-Masirah television network reported.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or extent of damage as a result of the airstrikes, which sent panic-stricken residents into the streets.

Saudi warplanes also targeted an area close to the building of Yemen’s satellite TV office in the al-Thawra neighborhood.

Moreover, Saudi fighters conducted two airstrikes against an area in the Sanhan district of Sana’a.

The developments came a few hours after the spokesman for Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, stated that Yemeni troops and allied fighters from the Popular Committees had carried out a large-scale offensive deep inside Saudi Arabia in response to the Riyadh-led war coalition’s crimes.

‘Atrocities will not go unpunished’

On Monday, a member of the negotiating team of the Yemeni National Salvation Government denounced the recent upsurge in the Saudi airstrikes against residential neighborhoods across Yemen, vowing that the attacks will not go unanswered.

“The crimes of enemies will not go unpunished, and members of the aggression coalition will pay a hefty price for their acts. The hysteria of the [Saudi-led] alliance and its decision to raise the ante against civilians is a clear proof of its military defeat,” al-Masirah TV quoted Abdul-Malik Al-Hajri as saying.

He added, “Neither do we count on the United Nations and the Security Council, nor the international community. We rely on our armed forces.”

‘Coalition confused over failure in Yemen’

Earlier, an unnamed official at the Yemeni Foreign Ministry said Saudi Arabia has failed to obtain any of its aggressive, sinister objectives in Yemen, hailing the steadfastness of the Yemeni nation, their belief in their just cause, and their total rejection of foreign interference.

“The Saudi-led coalition’s failure to achieve its malicious goals has resulted in the confusion of the alliance member states. They sometimes try to mislead the international community through alleged support for a peaceful political solution to the Yemen conflict and at other times threaten to launch fresh military strikes,” the official told Saba news agency.

While Sana’a can respond to the excesses of the Riyadh and Abu Dhabi regimes at an appropriate time and place, it still adheres to the principle of just and honorable peace for the Yemeni people, the Yemeni Foreign Ministry official pointed out.

Saudi Arabia, backed by the United States and regional allies, launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power and crushing the popular Ansarullah resistance movement.

The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead, and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases there.

Despite heavily-armed Saudi Arabia’s incessant bombardment of the impoverished country, the Yemeni armed forces and the Popular Committees have grown steadily in strength against the Saudi-led invaders and left Riyadh and its allies bogged down in the country.
