Palestinians Marks 73 Years of Nakba

Palestinians Marks 73 Years of Nakba

Alwaght- Palestinians held rallies in the occupied West Bank to commemorate the 73rd Nakba Day, the forces expulsion of some 750,000 Palestinians from their homeland by Zionist militias to create what’s known today as Israel.

A 73- second siren was sounded across the West Bank at 12 noon local time marking the 73 years that have passed since their Nakba, the catastrophe.

On Nakba Day a general strike and mourning have also been declared across the occupied West Bank. It came one day after several Palestinians were killed and hundreds of others wounded in the occupied West bank during the protests to denounce Israeli massacres in the besieged Gaza Strip since Monday.

Protesters marched toward the outskirts of Ramallah where Israeli military checkpoint and settlement of Beit Ell are located. Clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians continued for hours. Protesters threw stones and burnt tires, while the Israeli forces fired live rounds and rubber coated bullets in addition to using heavy tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the protesters.

Demonstrations also took place in multiple areas of the occupied West Bank where protesters clashed with Israeli troops. The latest escalation has raised fears by Israel of a new Palestinian "intifada," or uprising.

73 years on, it’s still a catastrophe continuing into today's forced expulsions of Sheikh Jarrah residents in Jerusalem al-Quds and Israel’s airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
