Alwaght- Search and rescue teams have reportedly have found on Monday the debris an Iranian airliner which had gone missing in bad weather in snow-capped mountains on Sunday.
"The wreckage from the crashed Tehran-Yasuj plane was found a few minutes ago," Fars news agency quoted Mojtaba Moradi at the governor's office of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province as saying.
The Aseman Airlines ATR-72, with 66 people onboard, went down on Sunday in foggy weather and crashed into Mount Dena in Zagros mountains in southern Iran.
Rescue teams and locals have conducted a second day of search for the twin-engine turboprop in bad weather in snow-capped mountains.
Officials later said the helicopters that had deployed at dawn to hunt for the plane were forced to return to base.
"Unfortunately due to strong winds and fog reducing visibility, it was not possible for helicopters to continue their search," a Red Crescent official told the ISNA news agency.
"Teams are searching by foot and so far they have not found anything."
Emergency workers have had to get to the remote area by land amid dense fog, high winds and heavy snow which have hampered search and rescue operations.
As many as 26 teams of mountain climbers were scouring valleys, slopes and ridges on Monday in the hope of finding the debris.
