Alwaght- Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, a Turkish social democrat politician and leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP), has condemned Erdogan due to his 1150 room palace.
Kemal Kilicdaroglu accused the president of using taxpayers’ money to decorate his presidential palace bathroom, most notably with a golden lavatory.
In an interview conducted in a palace room decorated with various golden furnishings, Erdogan issued a challenge to the opposition leader.
“I invite him to please come and take a tour … I wonder if he will be able to find such a golden toilet seat in any of these washrooms? If he finds it, I will resign from the presidency. If he can’t find them will he resign from his party?”
However, costing more than 500m euros, Erdogan’s 1,150-room palace has been the source of much criticism from the opposition who say it was built on protected land.
The challenges between Erdogan and other parties' Turkish leaders particularly Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu are long-standing and deep-rooted.
Earlier, Kilicdaroglu said, the presidential post was currently vacant as President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan used the word “we” to refer to the AKP deputy candidates in a rally he held on May 28.
In addition, Devlet Bahçeli leader of the Turkey's Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) vowed that he would sue government for its wrongdoings when MHP comes to power saying that he keeps records of what the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) is doing.
