Hezbollah Declares End of Arsal Battle, Takfiri Terrorists Defeated

Hezbollah Declares End of Arsal Battle, Takfiri Terrorists Defeated

Alwaght- Lebanese Hezbollah has officially declared an end to a military operation aimed at evicting al-Qaeda linked al-Nusra Front terrorists from Arsal town on the border with Syria.

The Operations Room of the Hezbollah Islamic Resistance issued on Thursday a statement in which it announced that the military campaign aimed at liberating the outskirts of Lebanon’s Arsal and Syria’s Flita from al-Nusra Front terrorists has been completed, hailing the martyrs’ sacrifices and the support provided by Hezbollah followers.

This liberation eradicated the threat posed by al-Nusra terrorists who used to dispatch the booby-trapped vehicles and the suicide bombers from the regained outskirts, according to the statement.

The statement also sent felicitations of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, stressing the Resistance readiness to carry out any mission he will order to confront takfiri terrorism.

The announcement comes days after Hezbollah and the Syrian army launched an offensive to drive out militants from their last stronghold in the border area between the two countries.

Hezbollah fighters have now moved into the areas after terrorists of Nusra Front, now known as Fateh al-Sham Front, withdrew following a series of consecutive defeats, which forced them to agree to a ceasefire.

Under the deal, Syrian government will shuttle the militants and their families to Idlib Province and some other areas. About 7,000 militants and members of their families left Arsal on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah is scheduled to deliver a televised speech on Friday to tackle the situations following the completion of Arsal victory.

Over two weeks ago the Syrian army and Lebanon’s Hezbollah fighters launched a joint operation against Takfiri terrorist group in border areas between the two countries. The operation resulted in victory of the resistance forces and humiliation of the terrorists.

The Arsal area was hit by the spillover of the Syria crisis in 2014, when the terrorists overrun the town for a brief period.
