Alwaght- Iranian government has initiated negotiations for a $10b arms deal with Russia, Russian RIA Novosti reported on Monday.
The negotiations are under way between Iranian defense authorities and their Russian counterparts, the agency reported.
The negotiations are to finalize an arms deal worth around $10 billion that would see Moscow deliver T-90 tanks, artillery systems, planes and helicopters to Tehran, a senior Russian senator said.
Viktor Ozerov, head of the defense and security committee in the Russian upper house of parliament, or Federation Council, told reporters that the talks on the potential deal were under way during a parliamentary visit to Iran.
Tehran has sealed arm deals with Moscow in recent years, the most famous was the S300 air defense system deal that finalized after years of negotiation.
Tehran has received several foreign defense delegates in recent days, as the Chinese defense minister is also in Iran, negotiating cooperative defense projects with Tehran.
