Iran Calls Syria’s Terrorism Resurgence an ‘American-Zionist Plot’ After Lebanon Failure

ALWAGHT- Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi attributed the resurgence of Takfiri terrorism in northern Syria to an American-Israeli scheme, highlighting that it followed Israel's defeats against resistance forces in Lebanon and Palestine.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi criticized the resurgence of Takfiri terrorism in northern Syria, calling it an "American-Zionist design" following Israel's defeats against resistance movements in Lebanon and Palestine. Araqchi shared these views during phone conversations with his Syrian counterpart Bassam al-Sabbagh on Friday and Lebanese counterpart Abdallah Bou Habib on Thursday. He described the phenomenon as part of a US-Israeli strategy to destabilize West Asia after setbacks in confronting Hezbollah.

Araqchi reaffirmed Iran's unwavering support for Syria in combating terrorism and ensuring regional stability. He emphasized that Iran, as the first nation to assist Syria in 2014, remains committed to supporting its government, people, and army. With the help of its allies, Damascus successfully reversed the tide of terrorism, defeating ISIS by 2017.

Sabbagh reported on the situation in northern Syria, noting that Syrian forces are resolutely confronting terrorist aggression. Recent attacks by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militants led to the overrunning of government-controlled areas and casualties among Syrian soldiers. However, the Syrian army thwarted large-scale terrorist operations in Aleppo Province through preemptive strikes, targeting terrorist positions and launching counterattacks to regain lost ground.
