Alwaght- Iran's Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian has made a number of proposals that would help ease Gaza plight during an emergency sessions of Organization Of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Immediate cessation of genocide, a permanent ceasefire, and Israeli army's withdrawal from Gaza were among what the top Iranian diplomat proposed in his address to the Muslim nations bloc.
He at the same time demanded sending the required amount of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip unconditionally, continuously and immediately.
He also called for immediate makeshift settlement of all those displaced in Gaza.
Among his proposals to the Muslim nations were establishment of makeshift hospitals and medical centers and transfer of those with critical injuries to outside Gaza for treatment.
He urged called on Muslim countries that have trade ties with the Israelis to boycott imports from Israeli companies and cut off all forms of business ties with them as a united gesture in support of Gaza.
Iran's foreign policy chief also called for Egypt to open Rafah border crossing with g Gaza regardless of the Israeli reservations to press Tel Aviv for a ceasefire.
The OIC emergency session on Gaza is the second since Israeli regime waged a devastating war on Gaza on October 7. The bloc this time, too, convened at the request of Iran as people in Gaza are in critical humanitarian conditions and starvation is emerging as an immediate threat to their lives after Israeli bombardment.
The situation in Gaza has been becoming unprecedentedly dire recently as Israeli military continues to deny food to Gazans. A convoy of inadequate food entered northern Gaza last week after 40 days. When people rushed to get a share, Israeli forces opened fire, killing 100.
The United Nations on Tuesday called on the international community to "flood" Gaza with aid amid reports that children are dying of starvation in the war-torn territory.
"With children starting ... to die from starvation, that should be an alarm like no other," Jens Laerke, spokesman for the UN humanitarian agency, told reporters in Geneva.
The World Health Organization reported "grim" findings and scenes of starving children after reaching two northern hospitals with aid last weekend for the first time since October.
Doctors at Kamal Adwan hospital, the only paediatrics hospital in northern Gaza, told the team that "at least 10 children had died due to starvation", Ahmed Dahir, who headed the mission, told a Geneva press briefing from the war-ravaged Palestinian territory.
The US has been a pivotal catalyst to this crisis. Washington over the weekend airdropped 30,000 meals to Gaza using its military aircraft. The move, however, was described as hypocritical since it continues to provide military aids to Israeli military to continue its genocidal war.
On February 16, the Senate approved new military supplies. The proposed arms delivery includes MK-82 bombs and KMU-572 Joint Direct Attack Munitions that add precision guidance to bombs, and FMU-139 bomb fuses, Wall Street Journal reported, adding that the value of is estimated to be "tens of millions of dollars."
The US also vetoed resolutions drafted by various actors at the UN Security Council calling for a ceasefire, each time arguing that stopping the war could help Hamas skip a prisoner deal with Tel Aviv.
