Alwaght- An official of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, was injured on Sunday in a car bomb blast in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon.
Sidon mayor told Voice of Lebanon radio that the blast took place as the injured man, identified as Mohammed Hamdan, opened the door of his booby-trapped car, adding that no one else was hurt in the explosion.
Hamas movement, talking to Lebanese media outlets, denied the news that one of its leaders was killed in Sidon attack.
For his part, the Hamas official in Sidon Ayman Shana'a said that Hamdan, who is a senior Hamas official, was taken to the hospital for treatment after being slightly injured in the leg.
This is not the first time Hamas officials come under attack The Israeli regime, world's foremost state sponsor of terrorism, has been implicated in the assassination of many Palestinian resistance fighters and officials.
In 2010, Israeli regime had itself embroiled in an international scandal when its operatives used false European and Australian passports to assassinate senior Hamas figure Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in the United Arab Emirates.
Last March, the Israeli regime assassinated Mazen Fuqaha, one of the group’s senior figures, in Gaza City, Gaza Strip. The victim was shot with four bullets to his head.
In 2016, Israeli regime notorious spy and terror agency, Mossad, assassinated Hamas engineer Mohammed al-Zoari in Tunisia. The 49-year old engineer martyred by Mossad had been a member in its ranks for ten years, working on developing its drone program.
