Army Units Conduct Large-Scale Drill in Southeast Iran

ALWAGHT- The Iranian Army launched a large-scale military exercise in southeastern regions of the country on Saturday.

Codenamed Zolfaqar 1403, the joint war game spans a vast area—from the northern Indian Ocean (around 10 degrees latitude) to the Sea of Oman and the Makran coasts in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.

The exercise sees coordinated participation from four Army divisions—the Army Ground Force, Air Force, Navy, and Air Defense—working in close conjunction with the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base, which serves as the central command for Iran’s Air Defense.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the commander of the drill, explained that under the theme “sustainable security and might,” the operation aims to bolster the nation’s capacity to defend and deter against potential ground, air, and naval threats.

He also highlighted that the exercise will incorporate a range of new weapons, including smart, precision-strike munitions and missiles.

The commander issued a stern warning that any adversary attempting to breach Iran’s territorial integrity or compromise its interests—whether on land, sea, or air—will face significant repercussions.
