Iran’s Quds Force Cmdr. Congratulates New Hamas Chief

Alwaght- The commander of Iran Islamic Revolution Guards Corps IRGC Major General Qassem Soleimani has congratulated Ismail Haniyeh on his election as new leader of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas.

We are hopeful about your efforts on institutionalizing Resistance along the Hamas’ jihadi line and a virtuous fate for Palestinians at your hands,” Soleimani has said in his message.

He underlined the evil plots of Zionism and global Arrogance who seek weakening the Islamic Ummah (Nation); “they are trying to distract Ummah’s jihad from its Islamic path and are seeking seizure of the Holy Quds while the supporters of the city lack the will to save it.”

Great tasks belong to great men; as promised we rely on your foresight to reach a future during which the domestic crises are solved with prudence; we await strengthening of unity with Hamas, the ally of Resistance axis, to raise the issue of Palestine again; to this aim we count on your efforts to replace the Palestine on top of Muslims global fight [against Arrogance],” reads part of the message.

I insist that all should serve the Palestine ideal and do not allow the issue to be victimized by others’ interests,” General Soleimani urged the Islamic Ummah, expressing hope that Mr. Haniyeh’s efforts continue till the liberation of al-Aqsa and entire Palestinian territory and the Holy Quds would turn into a hub for all Muslims and Christians.

Ismail Haniya was elected as the new leader of Hamas' political bureau, Khaled Meshaal, who preceded Haniya as leader of the movement's political wing and confirmed the transition of power.

"I would like to announce that this new council has elected Abu al-Abed, my brother Ismail Haniya, the president of the political bureau of the movement," Meshaal, who had been in charge of the political wing for the past 10 years, said in a statement earlier this month.

"The new leadership will announce any other names in the appropriate time. The movement blesses this election which came in a consultative, democratic way that is homogenous with the lists and that shows the unity of the movement."

Haniya, 54, is expected to remain in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian enclave run by Hamas since 2007, unlike Meshaal who lives in exile in Qatar's capital, Doha, and has completed the maximum two terms in office.
