Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU) On Monday said that the volunteer forces of
PMU have liberated a number of strategic sites in Hamrin Mountains in Northeast
Iraq.
“The 17th battalion of al-Jihad Brigades
alongside the security forces liberated a number of strategic sites in the area
of Hamrin Mountains,” a senior commander in PMU told IraqiNews.com. “The forces
have killed dozens of terrorists during fierce clashes in the area,” Hassan
al-Sari added
The al-Jihad Brigades
are affiliated with the Shiite volunteer forces of Popular Mobilization Forces
in Iraq.
In
another development on Monday, Iraqi based website cited Iraqi state television as reporting that the security
forces have regained control over seven protection towers in Baiji oil
refinery.
“The forces also managed to expel ISIS
militants from the gates of al-Haska and Dijla and force them to withdraw,” the IraqiNews
added.
