Alwaght- Saudi warplanes bombarded a funeral ceremony and killed at least 140 in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa while the attack left 527 more wounded on late Saturday.
On Saturday’s night, Saudi Regime’s jets conducted two airstrikes on a building where the funeral of Jalal al-Roweishan, father of the Yemen’s interior minister, was being held and claimed the lives of hundreds of people, local health officials said. The building also was seriously damaged in the attacks.
The number of casualties is highly likely to rise.
Also the Hospitals in the capital, Yemen’s al-Masirah television said, are desperately in need of blood donations.
Following the heinous crime, Washington, which has been a major arms supplier to Saudi Arabia has announced an “immediate” review of US support for the Saudi-led coalition.
In a statement, White House National Security Council spokesman Ned Price said that a “troubling series of attacks striking Yemeni civilians” had prompted the US to rethink its position.
Last year in September, Saudi jets bombarded a wedding ceremony in the town of Mokha in the southwestern province of Ta’izz, killing over 130 civilians. The victims were mostly women and children.
Yemen has been under almost daily airstrikes by Saudi Arabia since March 2015. Riyadh tries to reinstall his ally Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, Yemen's former president who has resigned and fled the capital to Saudi Arabia.
