Alwaght- The first Palestinian embassy in the Western Hemisphere in Brasilia was opened while weeks ago Brazil rejected Israeli regime's ambassador.
The Palestinian Authority has inaugurated the embassy in Brazil on Wednesday and Ibrahim Alzeben, Palestinian Ambassador, led the opening ceremony in the Brazilian capital city of Brasilia.
“This is the conclusion of a dream of mine that was also a dream of colleagues that came before me in this mission in the last four decades,” Alzeben said.
Brazil's former President Dilma Rousseff rejected the nomination of Israeli regimes ambassador over his links with the settler movement in the occupied West Bank
Dayan, 59, the former head of the Yesha Council, which represents the Zionists settlements in the West Bank, was approved by the administration of Benjamin Netanyahu on 6 September.
Brasilias decision to reject Dani Dayan four months after his appointment has angered Tel Aviv and prompted it to announce on Sunday that it would press on the left-leaning government in the South American country to accept Israeli envoy.
Now, Palestinian Ambassador to Brazil hopes that the development will be “the beginning of a new phase in relations between Brazil and Palestine, that they can be closer and more diversified.”
The Palestinian embassy was built on a 1,580-square meter piece of land donated by former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
