ALWAGHT- Iran's Foreign Ministry denounced the UK's decision to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, warning that Tehran reserves the right to take reciprocal action.
Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned the UK government's decision to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, calling the move politically motivated, unjustified, and a violation of international law, including the principles of state sovereignty and non-interference.
The ministry said the IRGC is an integral part of Iran's official Armed Forces, responsible for defending the country's sovereignty and security. It also highlighted the force's role in combating Daesh (ISIS), arguing that its contributions to regional security and stability are widely recognized.
The statement described Britain's decision as a provocative act that breaches the UN Charter, accusing London of acting in bad faith during heightened regional tensions. It also criticized the UK's history of foreign interference, alleged support for recent US-Israeli military actions against Iran, and claimed Britain was relying on unfounded security allegations while hosting groups Tehran describes as terrorist networks.
