Guterres and Amir-Abdollahian engaged in a conversation regarding the region and the Red Sea

The spokesperson for the United Nations announced that Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, has discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Red Sea with Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran.

On Tuesday, Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the United Nations, announced that the UN Secretary-General had engaged in a discussion with Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs on the previous day. The conversation encompassed topics related to the Middle East, notably focusing on the Red Sea.

Dujarric stated that regarding the situation in the Red Sea, the UN Secretary-General has once again urged all parties to avoid escalating tensions and fully implement Security Council Resolution 2722. The UN spokesperson also noted that the Secretary-General of the United Nations called for the immediate release of all hostages in Gaza.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, continued his diplomatic contacts and discussions, engaging in a conversation with Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, addressing the need to halt the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and discussing recent developments in the Red Sea.

Amir-Abdollahian, acknowledging Mr. Guterres' dedication to ending the tragedy of civilian casualties in Gaza, once again underscored the imperative of stopping the Zionist regime's assaults on Gaza. Expressing concern about the severe humanitarian conditions in Gaza, he declared Iran's willingness to extend humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

The Foreign Minister restated Iran's principled position on recent developments in the Red Sea, emphasizing the Islamic Republic's commitment to safeguarding maritime security and navigation. He clarified that Yemen's objective in preventing ships bound for occupied territories is to thwart the crimes and genocide committed by the Zionist regime against Gaza's citizens.

Amir-Abdollahian viewed the unlawful actions of the United States and the United Kingdom in Yemen as a strategic blunder that would heighten tensions in the region.
