Most Parts of Zabadani Liberated by Syrian, Hezbollah Forces

Alwaght- The Syrian military and fighters of Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah have liberated most parts of  Zabadani following intensive battles with terrorists in the strategic border city.
The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Wednesday that the Syrian army and allied Hezbollah resistance fighters managed to liberate 70 to 75 percent of the border city from terrorist groups through aerial and ground attacks.
The army and Hezbollah forces also secured a district in the city center -- used by the terrorists as a supply line -- and managed to take back buildings used by terrorists as hideouts.
The allied forces resumed the military operation in the southwestern city of Zabadani on Saturday, after the two-day ceasefire broke down.
The ceasefire came into effect on Thursday and included, besides Zabadani in rural Damascus, two villages to the northwest of the country, Kefraya and Foua.
It had been extended late on Friday but had collapsed by the morning.
Zabadani is located 45km northwest of Damascus, and it is 8km far from the Lebanese-Syrian border. It directly overlooks Beirut-Damascus highway that links the countries, and lies as a center point between the capital and Homs along with the coastal area.
Zabadani is considered as the last stronghold of the terrorists along the border with Lebanon.
Analysts consider that the operation in Zabadani throws away the real threat posed by terrorists in the area, by cutting off their supply routes starting from Zabadani towards Arsal barrens.
