US-led coalition warplanes attacked the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), also known as Hashd al-Shaabi, in the newly liberate Tal Afar region

Alwaght- US-led coalition warplanes attacked the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), also known as Hashd al-Shaabi, in the newly liberated Tal Afar region.

After a visit by the Iraqi Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi on Thursday, the gathering of the forces was attacked by US-led coalition, the Commander of the PMF said.

“The missile attack on Thursday targeted the tent where the commanders of Hashd al-Shaabi were gathered and some of them were injured in the attack,” the Commander said in a statement.

The statement says an investigation committee was formed and concluded that the missile was not fired by ISIS terrorists.

The missile landed one meter from the tent when only coalition warplanes were flying over Tal Afar region.

The PMF demanded a comment from the coalition.

The statement said coalition warplanes has continuously covered the airspace of Mosul and they have been fully aware of all movement of the Hashd al-Shaabi forces.

The statement says a final position will be taken after investigations are concluded.

The forces are part of the Iraqi operation to liberate the northern city of Mosul from ISIS domination as the last stronghold of the terrorist group.
