Syrian and Russian Forces Repel Terrorist Advances in Aleppo

ALWAGHT- Syrian and Russian forces conducted counterstrikes on terrorist positions in northern Syria, causing significant casualties and reclaiming key areas after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militants temporarily infiltrated parts of Aleppo.

On Friday, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militants advanced into parts of Aleppo, capturing areas such as Al-Hamdaniyah, Al-Furqan, and Al-Zahraa Association. Syrian forces swiftly responded with counter-operations to repel the attack and regain control of the seized regions. The Syrian Army’s General Command reported heavy casualties among the militants, including the destruction of armored vehicles and the downing of 17 drones.

The General Command highlighted the involvement of foreign-backed Takfiri groups, which deployed foreign fighters and heavy weaponry in their renewed offensive. They assured the public that operations would continue until all terrorist threats are eliminated, emphasizing the army's resilience in defending against these assaults.

Syrian and Russian airstrikes targeted terrorist positions in northern Aleppo and Idlib, including the towns of Maarat al-Numan and Mount al-Zawiya, resulting in the death of at least 200 militants. Additionally, the Syrian army preemptively disrupted four large-scale terrorist operations originating from Anadan, northwest of Aleppo, by launching missile strikes on key strongholds, effectively halting the planned offensives.

Syrian Foreign Minister Bassam Sabbagh, in a conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, reaffirmed Syria’s commitment to combating terrorist aggression. He stressed that Syria would not allow terrorists or their supporters to achieve their objectives. The General Command also urged citizens to rely on official sources for information, cautioning against terrorist propaganda aimed at causing panic.
