Hezbollah Sets New Rules in Confronting Israeli Regime

Hezbollah Sets New Rules in Confronting Israeli Regime

Alwaght- The Zionist regime's attack in the town of Quneitra in the Golan Heights on January, which led to the Martyrdom of six Hezbollah fighters and one senior Iranian commander, has resulted in unintended consequences for the regime.

The regime never imagined a crashing response from the Hezbollah resistance would come so soon and with outstanding military precision. Immediately after the Quneitra attack, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah issued a terse statement saying, ' prepare your shelters.'

At a time when the Israeli regime was in a state of high level alertness, on Wednesday, January 28, Hezbollah forces targeted an Israeli convoy in Shebaa Farms, north of the occupied territories and near the Lebanese border.

The resistance, without flinching, declared that a group from Hezbollah fighters named “The Martyrs of Quneitra” targeted an Israeli convoy in retaliation for the Quneitra attack killing several enemy troops.

Following the successful operation, on Friday Hezbollah Secretary General delivered a much-awaited public speech via video in Beirut.  The speech was indeed a turning point in the strategic outlook of the resistance as Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah announced new stances adopted in confronting the Zionist enemy.

Before delving deeper into the speech by Sayyid Nasrallah, it is important to recall the 2008 targeted assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Imad Mughniyeh , in Damascus. A recent Washington Post report revealed that martyr Mughniyeh lost his life in a CIA-Mossad joint terrorist operation. Martyr Mughniyeh was in charge of boosting and developing the military capacity of the Resistance in Lebanon. The resistance vowed to retaliate at a time and place of its choice. Fast-forward 2015, the Zionist regime struck yet again leading to the martyrdom of resistance fighters including Jihad, Mughniyeh a son of Imad Mughniyeh. In a major strategic blander the Zionist regime assumed that the resistance would not respond immediately.

In his Friday Speech, Sayyid Nasrallah clearly stated that that after the Quneitra operation Hezbollah was no longer concerned with the so-called "rules of engagement" with the Israeli enemy in any coming battle or assault. He further pointed out that the resistance will be responding to any violation in the time and place that it chose.

This marks a major shift by the resistance, a change in reaction to the unending state terrorism by the Zionist regime. The so-called 'international community' and especially the United Nations' Secretary General Ban ki-Moon is squarely to blame for any escalation in future. After the Quneitra terror attack by the Zionist forces, there was no condemnation by the ineffective Secretary General and the resistance had no option but to respond. The Zionist regime is so belligerent to the extent its response to the Hezbollah operation Shebaa Farms lead the killing of a Spanish UN peacekeeper. Spain has confirmed that Israeli fire had killed a Spanish UN peacekeeper serving in south Lebanon and called on the UN to investigate fully the incident. The UN Security Council has not issued any definitive statement condemning the brazen killing of the peacekeeper by the Zionist regime.

In his speech, the Hezbollah chief also noted that that “Israeli regime believes that it can threaten all armies and governments in the region whenever it pleases and without being deterred.”

No doubt, the unwavering support of the U.S. has made the Israeli regime more confident that it can get away with its crimes including killing children, women, and UN peacekeepers.

In his speech, Sayyid Nasrallah was defining the future battle lines when he stated, "Israeli regime will not be allowed to escape the assault against the Lebanese resistance movement unscathed".

It appears that the Netanyahu-led Israeli regime had read the signs after the Shebaa Farms operation and decided  not to escalate the situation fearing that it might plunge in to a quagmire as its elections approach. No doubt, the Hezbollah of 2015 is much stronger and formidable than the Hezbollah of 2006 when the Israeli regime launched attacks against Lebanon and later forced to retreat after failing to achieve its so-called objectives. The resistance emerged stronger after the 2006 war while the Zionist regime continues to weaken both internally and on the international arena.

Sayyid Nasrallah has read the riot act to the Zionist regime, that Hezbollah does not fear war and will act if a war is imposed on it and therefore no doubt; the resistance is defining the red lines and setting the rules of engagement.
