Alwaght- At least 46 terrorists including those affiliated to ISIS have been killed in the latest clearance operations conducted by the Afghan national security forces.
Afghan defense ministry said the operations were conducted in the past 24 hours in Helmand, Nuristan, Badakhshan, Nangarhar and Paktika provinces.
According to an operational update by the ministry, at least 18 terrorists were killed and vehicles along with three bikes were destroyed while 17 landmines were dismantled during the operations in Sangin disrict of Helmand.
The statement further added that 7 terrorsits were killed including a commander of the group and 10 others were wounded in Nuristan operations conducted in Du’ab district.
At least 15 terrorists were killed and 5 others were wounded in separate operations conducted in Jurm district of Badakhshan and center of Kunduz province while another 6 terrorists including 2 ISIS loyalists were killed during the raids in Achindistrict of Nangarhar and Domanda area of Paktika.
According to the statement, at least three soldiers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces also lost their lives during the same operations.
The anti-government armed terrorist groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the reports so far.
Afghan officials estimate that around 1,000 to 3,000 ISIS fighters are stationed in in eastern Afghanistan and are trying to establish a base of operations in the rugged mountains of Nangahar Province.
Meanwhile Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani hailed the Special Operations Forces of the Afghan National Army for their bravery and devotion in persistently thwarting the imposed war on the country.
Speaking on Sunday, President Ghani further added that the Afghan forces are fighting to ensure peace and stability in the region as well as the global security as the terrorist groups are posing threat to the region and the world.
