Iran Strongly Condemns Assault on Port Sudan

ALWAGHT- The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson denounced a drone attack targeting Port Sudan airport, highlighting alarm over the continued assaults on civilian sites across the country.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei condemned a recent drone attack on Port Sudan’s airport and surrounding civilian infrastructure. He voiced deep concern over the ongoing military strikes targeting essential services like hospitals, power plants, and non-military airports, and called for an immediate end to attacks on civilians in Sudan.

Baghaei also highlighted the worsening humanitarian crisis, pointing to widespread hunger and displacement across the country. He urged the international community and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action by stopping the fighting and delivering aid to those affected by the conflict.

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of launching suicide drone attacks on key sites near Port Sudan, marking the first such strike in the eastern region. The two-year conflict between the SAF and RSF has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths, mass displacement, and a looming famine affecting millions across Sudan.
