ALWAGHT- Iran and Belarus signed an agreement on Wednesday to enhance bilateral defense cooperation.
Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh met with his Belarusian counterpart, General Viktor Khrenin, in Minsk to discuss expanding military and defense cooperation. Both officials emphasized the importance of strengthening regional peace, stability, and defense diplomacy while exploring avenues to enhance bilateral relations.
Nasirzadeh highlighted the significance of defense cooperation, particularly through international organizations like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), to counter common threats and combat unilateralism. He regarded the newly signed memorandum of understanding as a crucial step toward strengthening defense and security ties between Tehran and Minsk. Khrenin echoed the importance of continued collaboration to ensure long-term security.
The signing of the MoU underscores the deepening of strategic defense relations between Iran and Belarus. Nasirzadeh, accompanied by a defense delegation, arrived in Belarus on Tuesday and was warmly received by high-ranking officials. His visit aimed to reinforce bilateral ties and address mutual security concerns.
