ALWAGHT- Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during a press conference, following discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, that Russia and Iran are in negotiations regarding the construction of additional nuclear power units in the republic.
"We are engaged in a major nuclear energy project. One unit is already operational and performing successfully. Currently, we are discussing the potential construction of additional units. Although there have been some delays due to calculations and payments, the work is progressing steadily. Thousands of people are already employed at these facilities, with around 80% of the construction being carried out by local companies," Putin stated, as reported by TASS.
He further emphasized that the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant project will play a crucial role in enhancing Iran's energy security while supplying affordable and eco-friendly electricity to businesses and households.
"Energy remains a key area of Russian-Iranian collaboration. The flagship project, led by Rosatom, involves the construction of two new units at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. Its successful execution will not only bolster Iran's energy security but also drive economic growth and provide Iranian industries and households with cost-effective, green electricity," he added.
