ALWAGHT- The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force has commenced a large-scale, specialized military drill in Kermanshah province, western Iran, aimed at enhancing combat readiness and preparing to address potential security threats to the nation.
The Payambar-e-A’azam (Great Prophet) 19 drills began on Saturday in a combat zone in western Iran, involving specialized divisions and units of the IRGC Ground Force, particularly the Mirza Kuchak Khan Brigades.
The Payambar-e-A’azam (Great Prophet) drills are part of Iran's longstanding strategy to enhance its military capabilities and showcase its readiness to address potential threats. These exercises, conducted periodically, serve multiple purposes: testing advanced weaponry, refining operational strategies, and demonstrating the swift mobility of troops and equipment across diverse terrains. The choice of Kermanshah province, a region with strategic significance near Iran's western borders, highlights the importance of securing border areas and preparing for external threats.
The inclusion of specialized units like the Mirza Kuchak Khan Brigades underscores the IRGC's focus on honing the expertise of its elite forces. By practicing rapid-response scenarios, the exercises aim to simulate real-world conditions, ensuring that the military is prepared to respond effectively to any security challenges, whether conventional or asymmetric.
Iran’s leadership has frequently reiterated that these drills are defensive in nature and aligned with the nation's right to sovereignty and security. Despite external pressures, including sanctions and calls for curbing its missile program, Iran has maintained that its military advancements are non-negotiable. This stance reflects a broader policy of self-reliance in defense, especially given the volatile geopolitical environment in the region.
Furthermore, these exercises send a message to both allies and adversaries about Iran's military readiness and resilience. They are also intended to reassure the Iranian public of the armed forces' capability to defend the nation against any aggression, reinforcing national unity and confidence in the country’s defense infrastructure.
