Alwaght- A year after the Israeli invasion of Gaza that has produced nothing but devastation of cities and massacare of tens of thousands of civilians, the Israeli army started a new barbarous campaign in Jabalia refugee camp north of the Gaza Strip.
On October 6, the Israeli army moved to Jabalia with a large number of forces and announced a new operation in the refugee camp, starting a horrific massacare of the civilians and destruction of the houses.
However, the Israeli army was not satisfied with just attacking Jabalia and expanded range of its operation to other neighborhoods and areas in the north of the Gaza Strip and asked civilians to evacuate the areas of Jabalia al-Balad, Jabalia Al-Nazla and the Iskandar and Al-Safatavi neighborhoods.
This comes as the Israeli army warned Palestinians many times in the past year to evacuate their homes and go to safe areas through specific corridors, but it bombed many of them on the way out or inside those areas, leaving thousands dead and wounded.
Mahmoud Bazel, the spokesperson of the Gaza Civil Defense announced on Sunday that the occupation forces have besieged Jabalia for the seventh consecutive day and the people of this area are denied water, food and other means of living.
In a statement, a copy of which was provided to Al-Khalij Online, Basel said "the occupiers do not allow the medical and civil defense teams to supply fuel and medical equipment, which negatively affects the lives of the besieged citizens." Basel also called on international institutions to fulfill their humanitarian duty to protect citizens in Jabalia.
The plan to attack Jabalia began after the Israeli media announced that the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government plans to implement the "generals' plan" in northern Gaza. According to what the media reports, this plan is to turn the north of the Gaza Strip into a "closed military zone", evacuate the population from it, and cut off basic aid. This is while the implementation of this plan has led to the complete siege and complete destruction of the infrastructure and health system and prevention of humanitarian supplies, in a way that the ethnic cleansing is accompanied by famine and the Gazans describe the situation as "horrible doomsday."
The army claims that the main aim of declaring the closed military zone is destroying Hamas’s capabilities to operate against Israeli forces. However, the experience of the past year has shown that despite mobilizing 300,000 forces and enjoying advanced military equipment and weapons, the Israelis have failed to discover tunnels of Hamas or neutralize its rocket operations. The Israeli security officials have admitted that Hamas is impossible to destroy and continuing Gaza war only adds to the Israeli costs.
Resistance standing firm
Although the Israeli officials intend to occupy the north of Gaza and separate it from the south, the Palestinian resistance is still standing firm and steadfast against the enemy, and as the Israeli security officials acknowledge, the Palestinian fighters have inflicted heavy losses on the ranks of the Israeli military with their ambushes.
Though the Israeli PM claims that they have destroyed all Hamas military infrastructures in northern Gaza, the new round of rocket attacks and the destruction of equipment of the Israeli army in the second year of the war shows that the resistance may have been weakened, but it is capable of hitting the enemy by rebuilding its powers.
In this relation, Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, on Sunday announced that during an ambush, they have inflicted casualties on an Israeli force in eastern Jabalia. Al-Qassam on Thursday in a statement explained that it struck an Israeli infantry consisting of 12 armored vehicles full of soldiers upon entry to the ambush using a thermobaric bomb. At the same time, a light vehicle was targeted using Tandem missile.
Also, Al-Qassam fighters advanced towards the ambush site and killed the remaining soldiers from "zero distance" with light weapons. They also targeted a number of soldiers who fled the scene to a house where they took shelter. After al-Qassam's statement, the Israeli army announced the death of 3 officers in the battle with Hamas at the same time as the military operation and heavy siege of northern Gaza began.
Different battle method in Jabalia
Although the Israeli army has spared no crime across Gaza in the past year of its genocidal war, experts believe that the operation that is about to be carried out in Jabalia is fundamentally different from its precedents.
Mohammad Abdul Rahman, a political and military writer, said in a conversation with Al-Khalij Online that though the current operation is being carried out with only three brigades, which is three quarters of the army and which is a much smaller number than in previous operations and despite the use of extensive firepower, especially heavy artillery, bombing by military planes, drones and quadcopters, this attack relies on the isolation of northern Gaza, and this is happening for the first time.
"The resistance, for its part, has been well prepared for such a day and anticipated such an attack by the occupiers, especially given the occupation regime's failure to achieve its stated goals in Gaza. For this reason, Tel Aviv found it necessary to seek a new battleground move after the end of the operation in Rafah," the political analyst held.
He added: "It seems that the resistance has gained a lot of experience from the previous battles and has turned to belated defense tactics and has not faced the enemy forces as before. Due to the huge difference in the capabilities of the two sides on the one hand and the desire of the resistance to hit the occupying army according to the capabilities and pre-prepared plans on the other hand, it chooses an operational theater."
He further said that given the volume of operations the resistance forces launched at the occupation forces, the resultant damages confirm that these attacks will take an upward trend and put heavy pressure on the enemy, because the Israeli army has been suffering as a result of the operational and tactical stagnation and as its frustration piles up.
The barbarous campaign in Jabalia comes as the Israeli army is not capable of a long-term war. But Netanyahu is personally pushing to prolong the war as he can instrumentalize it to distract public opinion from his corruption and trial case. From another aspect, Israel's new adventure in Jabalia arises from the confusion of Tel Aviv that is in turn caused by the failure to force Palestinians from Gaza. So, Netanyahu's government strives to at least evacuate the Palestinians from the northern Gaza and relatively ensure security of the settlers. But this warmongering triggers opening various anti-Israeli fronts in the region and sinks the occupied territories deeper in a security abyss.
