Iran Seeks Peace, But Stands Ready for Defense: President

ALWAGHT- President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed Tehran’s stance against wars and conflicts, while stressing that Iran remains resolute in defending itself against any acts of aggression.

In his first press conference since taking office, President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran seeks peace and is not in conflict with anyone. He expressed openness to negotiations with the West, particularly on contentious issues, but noted that the US must demonstrate good faith and uphold its obligations. Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to international agreements and its refusal to pursue nuclear weapons, despite Western threats.

He highlighted plans to strengthen ties with neighboring countries and collaborate with China on economic projects, particularly through the Silk Road. Pezeshkian also stressed the importance of maintaining defense capabilities for national security.

Regarding the United Nations General Assembly, he emphasized Iran’s pursuit of peace. On US relations, Pezeshkian said Washington must prove its sincerity, asserting that Iran has not acted aggressively toward the US.

The president criticized the West's inaction on Israel's actions in Gaza and called for unity among Muslim nations, especially between Iran and Saudi Arabia, to counter Israeli aggression and promote regional stability.
