ALWAGHT- The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy forces seized an oil tanker carrying a large quantity of smuggled diesel in the Persian Gulf.
On Monday, the commander of the IRGC Navy's 2nd naval zone announced the seizure of an oil tanker smuggling 1.5 million liters of diesel.
In the southern port city of Bushehr, General Heidar Honarian Mojarrad stated that the tanker, which was flying a Togo flag, was carrying the smuggled fuel and was seized under a judicial warrant.
The general added that 12 foreign crew members were on board the vessel, which has been transferred to a terminal of the Bushehr Oil Products Co. for unloading.
Earlier, in late January, the IRGC Navy had confiscated a foreign tanker carrying two million liters of smuggled fuel in southern waters.
In recent years, the IRGC Navy has employed modern detection equipment to monitor movements in the Persian Gulf and ensure the security of the marine routes.
