Preparations are in place for a just presidential election in Iran

ALWAGHT- Senior Iranian authorities have collaborated to ensure that prospective presidential candidates are afforded equal treatment and can engage in a fair and conducive environment for competition.

Acting President Mohammad Mokhber, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Judiciary Chief Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, and several other officials convened in Tehran on Tuesday to deliberate on the execution of Article 131 of the Constitution. They aimed to make necessary decisions for holding presidential elections within 50 days following the demise of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19.

The Vice President for Legal Affairs presented a report on the implementation of measures discussed in previous meetings by the Ministry of Interior and the Constitutional Council, which oversee the electoral process.

Additionally, during the meeting, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) outlined plans to establish an equitable and conducive platform to enable presidential candidates to elucidate their platforms.

The election campaign is scheduled from June 12 to June 26, with the nationwide presidential election slated for Friday, June 28.

Following the election, the incoming administration, marking the 14th since the Islamic Revolution victory in 1979, is expected to take office either in late June or early July, serving a four-year term.
