ALWAGHT- Officials in the energy sector from Iran and Russia stressed the need to broaden and enhance bilateral cooperation in gas technology development.
During a meeting with energy officials from the Russian Federation, Hossein-Ali Mohammad Hosseini, Director of Corporate Planning at the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the gas industry between the two countries.
He highlighted the necessity for both sides to identify capacities and opportunities for further collaboration and coordination in this sector.
Mohammad Hosseini expressed Iran's eagerness to expand relations with Russia in the energy domain, welcoming the suggestion from Russia’s Ministry of Energy to organize a specialized panel discussion on digitization, data monitoring, and analysis during the Russia Energy Week and the Energy Congress in St. Petersburg.
In other parts of his speech, the NIGC director underscored the importance of exchanging shared experiences in areas such as reducing gas losses and enhancing the safety of gas installations against sabotage and terrorist threats. He noted that Iran possesses significant capacities for gas exportation, importation, refining, and transmission, and is prepared to bolster cooperation with Russia in these areas.
Representatives and officials from the Russian Federation highlighted the necessity of identifying capacities and opportunities for increased coordination.
Topics such as establishing a joint research center in the gas sector, creating a gas hub in northern Iran, and engaging in trade in the gas and electricity sectors were also discussed by both parties during the meeting.
