Iran, Oman FMs Call for Collective Muslim Push to End Israel’s Gaza Genocide

Iran, Oman FMs Call for Collective Muslim Push to End Israel’s Gaza Genocide

Alwaght- Foreign ministers of Iran and Oman have urged the Muslim nations to engage in a collective effort to force Israeli regime to end its ongoing genocidal war on Gaza.

In a phone conversation on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi pointed to the recent resolution of an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)’s foreign ministers in the Saudi city of Jeddah and stressed the need to dispatch humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, reported Press TV.

The Iran-requested meeting was held to review the latest developments in Gaza and to discuss effective measures to halt the Israeli campaign of death and destruction in the besieged Palestinian territory.

At least 30,878 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been confirmed killed and 72,402 others injured so far during Israel’s genocidal war, which began following Operation al-Aqsa Storm by Gaza-based resistance movements on October 7, 2023.

The Israeli military campaign has devastated large swathes of Gaza, destroyed hospitals and displaced a major proportion of the population of 2.4 million in the world’s “largest open-air prison.”

Pointing to the talks to restore the 2015 nuclear agreement -- formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) -- the Iranian foreign minister, according to Press TV, slammed US contradictory approaches and its lack of commitment.

Amir-Abdollahian thanked Oman's great efforts during the sanctions removal talks.

JCPOA talks have been on pause since August 2022, with Iran blaming a lack of political will on the part of US President Joe Biden’s administration to undo the damage caused to the multilateral nuclear deal by the previous US administration.

Former US President Donald Trump pulled Washington out of the UNSC-endorsed agreement in May 2018, imposing severe economic sanctions against Tehran while Iran was adhering to its commitments under the deal and even continued to do so for a year after the US withdrawal.

The top Iranian and Omani diplomats discussed the latest developments pertaining to mutual relations and said the two countries are moving in a correct and upward path.
