New airstrikes launched by the U.S. against Yemeni forces as conflict intensifies

Sunday 14 January 2024
New airstrikes launched by the U.S. against Yemeni forces as conflict intensifies

The assault occurs one day following US and UK attacks on Yemeni forces facilities, leading to protests and calls for retaliation.

For the second consecutive day, the United States initiated attacks on Yemeni forces.

On Saturday, the Central Command (CENTCOM) of the US military reported that Tomahawk missiles were launched from the US Navy's USS Carney targeting a radar site of the Yemeni forces.

Nasreddin Amer, the Yemeni force deputy information secretary stated that they would retaliate with a “strong and effective response”.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Abdulsalam, the spokesperson for the Yemeni forces, declared that the US assault would not discourage them from launching attacks on vessels linked to the Zionist regime.

The Yemeni forces assert that their campaign is a display of their solidarity with Palestinians who have been under siege and subjected to inhuman bombardment by the Israeli regime in Gaza for the past three months.

The US Department of Defense reported that its initial round of attacks on Yemen, carried out late on Thursday, utilized over 150 munitions launched from both US and UK maritime and air platforms. The targets encompassed more than 16 locations. The attacked sites included Yemeni forces weapons depots, launch sites, air defense radars, “command and control nodes,” and “production facilities.”

Yemeni forces confirmed the martyrdom of five people and vowed to strike back.

Yemeni forces strongly support the people of Palestine in their struggle against the Israeli regime. The ongoing war in Gaza has resulted in the tragic loss of over 23,000 people, including approximately 10,000 children, and left more than 60,000 people injured.
