Alwaght- The Bahrain Mirror website has launched a new publication entitled "ISIS Are Among Us...The Bahraini Government and the Rise of “Jihadi Islam”.
The book is a dispassionate study of the rise of Salafi “Jihadism” in Bahrain since the start of the "Arab Spring."
This book, published in both English and Arabic languages, provides a serious and nuanced look at the creeping “jihadism” in Bahrain and the mounting threat to the regime. It consists of six chapters tracing the evolution of Salafi extremism in Bahrain and how the minority Sunni ruling family has used Salafi extremists to mobilize its rabid anti-Shiite supporters to quell the calls for political reform and democracy.
The book offers a critical analysis to the Aal Khalifa regime's failed policies and shortsighted refusal to find common ground with the Shiite majority in the tiny Persian Gulf state..
"This book provides a serious and nuanced look at the creeping “jihadism” in Bahrain and the increasing threats facing the regime,” Nakhleh states that it is a unique and informative book about the rise of Salafi extremism in Bahrain and the regime’s sectarian policies.
He points out that the Bahraini regime promoted and exploited radical Sunni ideology in its repression of the Shiite majority's calls.
Bahrain has been witnessing almost daily protests against the Al Khalifa dynasty since early 2011, when an uprising began in the kingdom. Since then, thousands of protesters have held numerous rallies in the streets of Bahrain, calling for the Al Khalifa royal family to relinquish power. Hundreds of prominent opposition figures, including Sheikh Ali Salman, the secretary general of al-Wefaq party, have also been imprisoned by the Bahraini regime.
Many Bahrainis have been killed and hundreds of others were injured and many more unfairly incarcerated in the ongoing crackdown on peaceful protests and dissent.
Human rights groups have slammed the Bahraini regime for its brutal crackdown.
