17 Palestinians Lose Legs after Israeli Forces Unusual Bullets Blast Their Limbs

Alwaght- Israeli regime intentionally targeted Palestinians protesting near Gaza border with occupied territories last week, Pierre Krahenbuhl, Commissioner General the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), said Tuesday.

Israeli regime forces killed at least 65 and injured 2,700 Palestinians who gathered near Gaza fence border on Monday for the climax of a six-week demonstration coinciding with the inauguration of US embassy in al-Quds (Jerusalem).

Before the bloody culmination of Palestinian's six-week “Great March of Return” in Gaza, Israeli forces have shot dead 49 protesters.

In total, 114 Palestinians have been killed during demonstrations in Gaza since 30 March.

Speaking at a press conference in Gaza City, Krahenbuhl described the nature of injuries sustained by Palestinian protesters as “shocking”, Turkish Anadolu Agency reported.

The UN official confirmed that the Israeli regime's army had deliberately targeted protesters’ lower limbs, knees, backs and heads.

Krahenbuhl added that the number of protesters injured since Palestinians began holding rallies near the Gaza border on Mar. 30 now exceeded the number of those injured during Tel Aviv's destructive 2014 military aggression on the besieged enclave, that claimed lives of 2250 Palestinians and injured thousands more.

Of the 13,000 Palestinians injured since the Gaza rallies began on Mar. 30, Krahenbuhl said, roughly 3,500 had been struck by live ammunition.

According to the UNRWA chief, the large number of casualties, and the severe nature of many injuries, had pushed Gaza’s health sector to the brink of collapse.

Every year on May 15, Palestinians all over the world hold demonstrations to commemorate the day, which marks the anniversary of the forcible Israeli eviction of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homeland in 1948.
