ALWAGHT- According to a Yemeni military source cited by SABA, the drone was conducting a surveillance mission over Hajjah province.
Yemeni Armed Forces said Sunday they shot down a Saudi ScanEagle reconnaissance drone after it entered Yemeni airspace over Hajjah province. A Yemeni military source told SABA that the drone was conducting a surveillance mission when it was downed.
The incident comes days after Yemen announced three new military “equations” in response to Saudi escalation: “blockade for blockade,” strikes on Saudi military buildups, and defending Yemen’s sovereignty against foreign incursions.
Tensions between Sanaa and Riyadh have intensified following a Saudi strike on Sanaa International Airport in July. Yemen subsequently declared the 2022 truce effectively collapsed and announced a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia, following demonstrations across Yemen backing retaliatory measures.
