Alwaght- Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) have liberated the strategic city of Baaj From ISIS, further shrinking the northern region under the terrorist group control, the Iraqi military said on Sunday
The Iraqi air force supported PMF, Also known as Hashd al-Shaabi in Arabic, to recapture the border city in the western part of Nineveh province and also taking control over the villages of Tel-Kri and Tall Faraj Alemsry north of Baaj.
Baaj lies west of Mosul and south of Mount Sanjar.
The pro-government popular forces announced last week they had reached the Syrian border and begun to clear it of ISIS terrorists. By seizing Baaj, PM forces have secured border territory between Iraq and Syria.

The PMF media wing has also denied media reports that the group, which is a part of the Iraqi Armed Forces, has crossed the border with Syria and allegedly entered the area controlled by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
While the Iraqi armed forces have launched large-scale operation to liberate last three remaining districts of western Mosul from ISIS, The PMF have been charged with expelling ISIS from areas west of Mosul, all the way to the Syrian border.
Last week the force declared it had cleared the town of Qairawan and its surroundings of ISIS militants.
This progress is part of the second phase of a wide-scale operation dubbed “Muhammed Rasulullah” to take remaining areas from Takfiri terrorists in northern Iraq.
