Outrage as Israeli Regime Desecrates Muslim Cemetery in Quds

Wednesday 12 August 2015
Outrage as Israeli Regime Desecrates Muslim Cemetery in Quds
Alwaght- There is growing outrage after the Israeli regime built a nightclub on a historic Muslim cemetery in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) which houses the remains of some companions of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and prominent intellectuals.
In a grotesque act, Israeli regime forces have already opened a club and café built on part of the land, which has been stolen by Israelis, of the Islamic cemetery of Ma’manillah in the occupied Old City of Eat al-Quds.
Meanwhile, several regional and international organizations have condemned Israel's continuation of desecrating the cemetery.
The Arab League in a statement on Monday described the Israeli construction as a “grisly crime.”
"For many years, Israel has been targeting this cemetery," the Arab League said.
It also warned of grave consequences of continuing the Israeli desecration of Muslim and Christian holy sites in East al-Quds.
Several religious groups have also asked the Muslim countries as well as the Palestinian people to urgently work on confronting the desecration of the cemetery.
The cemetery is the oldest and biggest graveyard in Palestine. It also includes several historic shrines and tombs.
Sources say burials in Ma’manillah cemetery continued until 1948, when the illegitimate Israeli entity was created on the land of historic Palestine. Israelis later confiscated the cemetery and turned it into a public park.
The latest move is considered as part of the Israeli policy of accelerating Judaization and desecration of Islamic landmarks in the historic city.
Over the past decades,  a defiant Israeli regime has tried to change the demographic makeup of al-Quds by constructing illegal settlements, destroying historical sites, and expelling the local Palestinian population.
