On Tuesday afternoon, at the request
of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization, Iranian navy forces have seized a
Marshall Islands-flagged owned-US ship named Maersk Tigris, which is a trade
vessel whose owner had some long-standing overdue payments. Different nationals
including American and European are the ship crew.
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), the responsible
for security of Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf, are now taking
the American vessel to Iran's Southern port city of Bandar Abbas in the Persian
Gulf, Fars news agency reported.
"The vessel initially ignored the warning, but complied
after the shots were fire," a US Army Colonel Steve Warren told RT. The
Iranian source confirmed the news, while Pentagon has denied it.
No US military force is involve in ship. But, US planes and
a destroyer were monitoring the situation after the vessel was seized in the
Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping channels,
Reuter reported.
