Israel to Annex More Palestinian Lands

Monday 2 January 2017
Israel to Annex More Palestinian Lands

Israeli Education Minister, Naftali Bennett

Israeli regime is planning to annex more part of occupied Palestinian lands in the West Bank through imposing its laws on the region

Alwaght- Israeli regime is planning to annex more part of occupied Palestinian lands in the West Bank through imposing its laws on the region.

The hawkish education minister of the regime said the Israeli law will be imposed on Maale Adumim region in the West Bank.

“Before the end of January, we, together with all the coalition parties, will propose a bill for the imposition of Israeli law on Ma’ale Adumim,” he said.

Right-wing Naftali Bennett, who also heads the so-called Jewish Home party, has been calling for annexation of Palestinian lands in previous occasions.

The move comes despite a recent UN Security Council resolution that condemned the Israeli settlements in the region as illegal.

Irked by the vote, Bennett urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to rescind his support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The UN motion “like many of the earlier resolutions, will be thrown into the dustbin of history,” he claimed.

Maale Adumim, which is considered by many Israelis as a suburban city, is the third most populous Israeli settlement located seven kilometers from al-Quds (Jerusalem), encompassing a large swath of land in the occupied West Bank.

Bennett further expressed hope that the proposed bill would be supported by all regime officials.

More than 230 illegal settlements have been constructed since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. The unauthorized structures have hampered attempts to establish peace in the Middle East.
