Alwaght- French Interior Minister has rejected the controversial ban on Burkini, full body cover swimsuit for women, as ineffective.
In an interview published on Sunday, Bernard Cazeneuve, French Interior Minister said the ban could intensify the tensions between communities and will be both unconstitutional and ineffective.
Some major French cities including Nice issued a ban on Burkini deploying security officers on their shores to fine any Muslim woman wearing the full-body swimsuit also making her take off the cover right on the spot.
A viral video showing French policemen forcing a Muslim woman to remove her cover on a Nice shore sparked international protests against the Islamophobic rule.
"The [French] government ... refuses to legislate on this [ban] because a law would be unconstitutional, ineffective and likely to create antagonism and irreparable tensions," Cazeneuve told La Croix newspaper.
Finally France's highest administrative court, the Council of State, ruled on Friday against a decision to ban the Burkini by the mayor of the resort town of Villeneuve-Loubet. The ruling may set a precedent for the dozens of French towns that have also ordered Burkini bans.
