Alwaght- Over 40 has been killed in Kashmir that has been placed under curfew for the 11 successive days as police cracks down on Muslims and all media and newspapers are suspended since two days ago.
41 people, including a police officer, have been killed in clashes between protesters and security forces following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
Jammu and Kashmir is the home of some 10 million Muslims as the majority of the population.
All private mobile telephone services and broadband internet services have been remained suspended in the Indian northern state for over a week.
“It’s painful when you know what is happening in France or Turkey but don’t know anything about your friend or a relative staying 500 metres away,” said a teacher who lives in Sopore located some kilometers away of clashes.
State government officials said newspaper owners were asked to suspend publications until July 19, according to Indianexpress website.
Kashmir is divided evenly between India and Pakistan, but both claim it in its entirety.
Most people in India's portion resent the presence of Indian troops and want independence or a merger with Pakistan.
