Alwaght-Islamabad police has formed special operational teams to arrest opposition activists to put an end to their sit-in protest in the capital of Pakistan. The activists are demanding the resignation of Nawas Sharif whom they accuse of rigging in the general elections of the last year.
It is reported that the police attacked the headquarters of the Majlis-e-wahdat-e-Muslimin and arrested Asad Abbas Naqavi, senior leader of the party, along with nine members of the party. According to the report, Asad Abbas Naqvi was nominated by the Pakistan Awami Tehrik, led by Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, to negotiate with Nawas Sharif's government.
It seems that one of the most important reasons behind the arrest of Majlis-e-wahdat-e-Muslimin members is their accordance with Tahir-ul-Qaderi movement in Nawas Sharif ousting. Meanwhile, army warned Muslim Unity of terrorist attacks and asked them to restrict their sit-in.
