ALWAGHT- Britain has called on Israel to avoid carrying out strikes in Syria, emphasizing that maintaining stability in Syria is crucial for the broader region.
British Minister Hamish Falconer has urged Israel to halt its military strikes in Syria, warning that such actions are causing civilian casualties and risking further regional instability. In a statement on X, he stressed the importance of addressing security concerns through diplomatic channels and respecting Syria’s territorial integrity.
Recent Israeli airstrikes have targeted multiple areas in Syria, including Damascus, Hama, Homs, and Dara’a. One strike in Dara’a killed nine civilians, according to Syrian media. These attacks followed earlier strikes and a ground incursion that resulted in 13 more deaths. The escalation has intensified concerns about Syria's already fragile state.
Since the fall of the Assad government last December to militant groups like Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), Israel has increased its attacks on former Syrian military assets. Critics have accused Israel of exploiting the turmoil for territorial gains and violating the 1974 ceasefire agreement with Syria.
