ALWAGHT- Israeli forces have seized control of two towns in southwestern Syria's Quneitra province, near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, and are advancing toward the neighboring Dara’a province following the takeover of the region by militant groups.
Israeli forces have captured the towns of Madinat al-Baath and Hader in Syria’s Quneitra region, advancing into the buffer zone with artillery shelling in the strategically significant area. The operation was reportedly preceded by heavy shelling of surrounding locations, and Israeli troops are now moving toward Dara’a province, located 90 kilometers south of Damascus.
Earlier, Israeli troops seized a Syrian army outpost on Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights, reportedly without resistance. The Shaldag commando unit of the Israeli Air Force led the operation, with senior Israeli commanders later visiting the site. The Syrian army is believed to have abandoned the position amid the collapse of President Bashar al-Assad’s government.
Amid the escalation, Israeli tanks reportedly moved into Khan Arnabeh near the Golan border, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declaring that the long-standing agreement with Syria had broken down. He instructed the Israeli military to secure a buffer zone in the Golan Heights following the withdrawal of Syrian forces from the area.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military issued warnings to residents of five towns in southern Syria to remain indoors while launching extensive airstrikes on Syrian military targets. Armed groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) announced their control over Damascus and confirmed the fall of the Assad government. Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi Jalali expressed willingness to collaborate with opposition forces and transition to a new administration.
