ALWAGHT- Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto denounced recent attacks on Syrian civilians by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group, urging global condemnation and an end to foreign backing for the militants.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto condemned recent attacks by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants in Aleppo, calling them a severe blow to civilians and the region's humanitarian situation. In a statement shared on Telegram and reported by RT Arabic, Gil Pinto reaffirmed Venezuela’s solidarity with Syria and its support for President Bashar al-Assad’s efforts to restore stability.
The Venezuelan government called on the international community to denounce terrorism in Syria and demanded an end to foreign support for militants, accusing Western powers and the Netanyahu regime of destabilizing the region and threatening global peace. The statement emphasized Venezuela’s unwavering support for Syria’s sovereignty and its fight against terrorism.
The condemnation follows a series of militant offensives that resulted in the seizure of key territories in Aleppo, its outskirts, and Idlib. In response, the Syrian army initiated a redeployment to fortify defense lines, protect civilians, and prepare for a counteroffensive to reclaim the captured areas.
During discussions with Venezuelan officials, Syrian representatives highlighted the devastating impact of the attacks, including mass displacement and terror among civilians. Minister Gil Pinto reiterated Venezuela's strong condemnation of the assaults and emphasized President Nicolas Maduro’s steadfast support for Syria’s government and its people.
