ALWAGHT- Nearly 1,000 foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists, including Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham members, have been killed in Aleppo and Idlib over the past three days as government forces press their counter-terrorism operations.
Syrian media reports indicate that nearly 1,000 foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists, including members of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham group, have been killed in the past three days in Aleppo and Idlib, with Syrian troops supported by Russian airstrikes.
The Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria also confirmed the elimination of at least 300 militants in Aleppo and Idlib, in coordination with the Syrian army.
Syria's official news agency, SANA, citing a military source, reported that the army reinforced its defense lines in northern Hama with various firepower assets. The army successfully repelled terrorist groups, preventing breakthroughs and restoring control over several areas, including Qalaat al-Madiq and Ma’ardas.
Russian air support also targeted terrorist strongholds in Hazarin and al-Rakaya in southern Idlib, as well as HTS positions near Khan Shaykhun and Morek. Syrian forces also recaptured Halfaya, 25 km northwest of Hama, and liberated Taybat al-Imam, Khirbet al-Hijama, and Suran in northern Hama.
HTS-led terrorists launched a surprise assault in Aleppo and Idlib on Wednesday, capturing several villages and towns before entering Aleppo on Friday.
Since March 2011, Syria has been struggling with foreign-backed militancy, with Damascus accusing Western nations and regional allies of supporting terrorist groups to destabilize the country. These groups aim to undermine the government's efforts to restore security and stability, while also facing regular Israeli aggression. Israel has been a principal supporter of terrorist groups opposing President Bashar al-Assad's government.
