ALWAGHT- The Yemeni Armed Forces vowed to keep targeting all vessels linked to Israel in regional waters, regardless of changes in ownership or flags, as an extension of their maritime blockade.
On Sunday, the Yemeni Armed Forces announced their intent to continue targeting ships linked to Israel in regional waters. They warned that attempts by Israeli-affiliated companies to evade sanctions by transferring ownership or reflagging vessels would not alter Yemen's stance.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, highlighted that numerous Israeli-affiliated shipping companies are trying to bypass Yemen’s sanctions by selling assets or changing registrations. He cautioned that any entities interacting with these companies or vessels would be banned from Yemeni-controlled waters and face punitive actions.
Saree reaffirmed that Yemeni forces would maintain their actions regardless of any ownership or flag changes on Israel-linked ships. He added that Yemen's maritime blockade and targeting of these vessels would persist until Israel ends its aggression against Gaza and Lebanon and lifts the siege on Gaza.
Since October 2023, the Yemeni forces have launched several missiles on Israeli targets, including both Israeli-held territories and Israel-affiliated ships. Israel's ongoing military campaign in Gaza has resulted in over 43,300 Palestinian deaths, largely women and children, and has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, leaving the population in dire need of food, water, and medical aid.
