Araqchi of Iran Meets with Assad in Damascus, Syria

ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met in Damascus to discuss the latest developments in Syria, focusing on the recent insurgency that led to the fall of Aleppo to terrorist groups.

During their meeting in Damascus, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi conveyed warm greetings from Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. He reaffirmed Iran’s steadfast commitment to supporting Syria’s government, people, and armed forces in their fight against terrorism and efforts to uphold regional stability and security.

Araqchi described the recent terrorist activities in Syria as part of a larger conspiracy by adversaries aiming to destabilize the region. He pointed to the alignment between these groups' goals and the strategic aims of the United States and the Zionist regime, which seek to perpetuate conflict and insecurity while compensating for setbacks against the Resistance Front.

Expressing confidence in Syria’s ability to overcome current challenges, Araqchi emphasized Iran’s unwavering support for Syria in resisting aggression from terrorist groups and the Zionist regime. He underscored the importance of this partnership for ensuring long-term regional stability and safeguarding the security of all nations in the region.

President Assad thanked Iran for its consistent and principled support, commending Tehran’s efforts to bolster regional stability and counter terrorism. He stressed the need for collective regional efforts to eradicate terrorism, which benefits the enemies of Islamic nations, particularly the Zionist regime. Assad also highlighted the importance of Araqchi’s visit as a symbol of Iran’s steadfast solidarity with the Resistance Axis against the Zionist regime.
