ALWAGHT- Emphasizing Iran's stance against war, President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the country is committed to defending its citizens and will deliver a fitting response to the Zionist regime for its recent acts of aggression.
“We do not seek war, but we are committed to defending our nation and the rights of our people. We will deliver a proportional response to the aggression from the Zionist regime,” the president stated during a cabinet meeting on Sunday, a day after Israeli forces attacked Iranian military sites.
In these attacks, four members of the Iranian armed forces were martyred while protecting the country’s airspace. Pezeshkian expressed his condolences to their families and to the Army, as noted on his official website.
He also highlighted that the crimes of the Zionist regime have been exposed to the world, noting that people globally are now aware that the regime's supporters, particularly the US, profess to defend freedom and human rights while remaining silent about the killings of tens of thousands of women and children by the regime.
“The continuation of the Zionist regime’s aggression and crimes will only lead to increased tensions,” the president cautioned.
Pezeshkian asserted that the US is instigating the Israeli regime to commit these acts, claiming they had promised to end the conflict in exchange for Iran's restraint, but have since broken that promise.
Additionally, he expressed his sorrow over the martyrdom of ten Iranian law enforcement officers in a terrorist attack in Taftan, located in southeastern Iran, and urged officials to identify and hold the perpetrators accountable.
